CV Curves

Today students will be working on plotting points and revolving them around a center point.  Students can use a variety of curve tools but today we will be focusing on the CV curve tool.  As a class we will do a few trial revolutions and then students will begin working on plotting their own points before moving on to their CV curve lesson.

 

Table Mini Lesson

Tuesday and Wednesday will be dedicated to designing a table.  There aren't any instructions for the tables, you must use your imagination and use what you have learned thus far.  This is like a test--You are showing me that you know how to: create, manipulate, move, scale, rotate, duplicate and add color.  These are things you should be comfortable with by now. 

You have one class period to complete your Table Designs.  When you are finished- drop it into the "Table" dropbox on Cole.

 

 

 

 

Thursday 2/13 through Monday 2/24

For the next 2 class periods, students will continue working on their Temple project from the online tutorials.

If you have forgotten how to get to your online tutorials, see the previous post - it tells you step by step how to get there.

Temples will be due at the end of the hour on:

• Friday 2/21 for A Days
• Monday 2/24 for B Days

Continue on with the reading of the tutorial and then add in the extra additions.  See the info and diagram below to help you!

2/11 & 2/12

Today students will begin their first reading tutorials.  I will teach the students a few new thing before they began and also how to read the tutorials efficiently.

How to get to your online tutorials:

1. Open Maya
2. Go to "Help" in your main menu.
3. Go down to tutorials and then a website will open.
4. Find the "Maya 2012" version and click on "Getting started with Maya 2012" the first option listed.
5. Then open to whatever lesson you are currently working on.

Students will begin the unit "Maya Basics" today that is located on the left hand side of your online tutorials.  This lesson walks you through the steps of making a temple.  The lesson begins in Chapter 2 (the first chapter is review of things you already know.  If you feel that you need to read through Chapter 1, feel free to do so). 



For the rest of today, students should work on their Temple tutorial.  We will continue with the lesson next class!

CARS!!!!

We have been working on our cars all week and we are coming to the end.  Cars will be due by the end of class on Friday for 2A and Monday for 4B.  Remember to make sure you have added color(s) and details to your cars!  Make them AWESOME!

 

We will be voting on our favorite cars the following class, Tuesday for 2A and Wednesday for 4B as well as turning them into DropBox via Cole. 

Next up will be our first online tutorial!  New tools, new model!

Monday 2/3

Hi Students-  I apologize that I am not there today.  There was an emergency this morning and I couldn't make it to school.

Today, you need to begin building your car.  Last class we learned how to create forms and manipulate them.  Decide what car you want to model yours after and begin building.  Remember to constantly to be moving your scene (grid) so you can see your forms from all directions.  When you move your forms, everything should stay together..this is part of the challenge.  Don't worry about colors yet, just build your car.  But don't forget about windows and designs--  **Planes** work great for windows and designs  Planes are FLAT squares that you can manipulate.
